Ohio State will don scarlet and gray when it faces Michigan Nov. 21, but with a twist.

The Buckeyes will wear jerseys that honor the undefeated 1954 national championship team, according to a statement by OSU Director of Athletics Gene Smith.

The uniforms will be unveiled Sunday, Nov. 15, with photos on the OSU athletics Web site.
OSU participated in Nike’s Rivalry uniform program, which allowed the team an opportunity to recognize a team of the past.

In the statement, Smith stressed that the jersey switch is a one-time occasion.

I saw a picture and they are OK. They are trying to make it Old School but it's hard with all the new equipment. They have their hearts in the right place. So regardless they are just trying to honor a great team. Whatever our jerseys look like, we are still going to beat Michigan. Besides, Nike made the jerseys, not OSU. Sit back and get ready for the Rose Bowl.

Serioiusly. It's just a jersey. Calm down everyone. and Matt, it doesn't make sense to "withhold complete outrage" when you don't even know what they look like. That's just stupid

To All - - Get over it!!! It's just a jersey honoring a great Buckeye team for a one-time occasion. There are more important things than worrying about calling out the Fashion Police and bashing Nike. The only thing important is what will be inside the jersey - Buckeye Pride!!!

Most, if not all, college teams have jersey changes of some sort every year. So if that's a "cash grab", then ALL college athletic departments do it. Why such "durm und strang" over it???
I do agree that the Oregon Ducks have one of the ugliest uniforms ever devised. Doesn't Florida State also have one that isn't particularly pleasing?

Are we really that surprised that our AD and athletic dept as a whole is going for the Nike cash grab? It was only a matter of time before the ugliness of the Oregon Ducks unis made their way to other teams.

They are uniforms. As in clothes. Are you really that bent out of shape about something that hasn't even been unveiled yet and will only be a one-time tribute to a team that helped build the reputation of this football organization?

is it? are you sure? How can we be sure? I will withhold complete outrage til I see the revealed designs in a week and a half... but if they are ANYTHING like those atrocities... then Buckeye Nation will rear its very angry head

Matt, you're looking at different jerseys. The jerseys for the Michigan game are not the Falcons look alikes that have been circulating. They are jerseys that will honor the 1954 National Championship team, so it is probably a throwback jersey of some kind.

THIS IS HOORIBLE... I think the students should let NIKE and the AD know that this is a HORRIBLE plan. Those jerseys are ugly, just ugly. Why change it? Seriously WHY??? They are basically NFL jerseys and do not honor anything besides Nike wanting to make money off of an alternate jersey. Pictures have been leaked and are easy to find, look for yourself. Do you really want that atrocity on the field during the greatest rivalry in sports? I sure has heck don't
