Ohio State's Undergraduate Admissions Web site contains a wide range of information for prospective students, including the chance to connect with one of 14 current students who have been writing blogs about the ups and downs of being a Buckeye.

The student bloggers post at least one blog a week, on a variety of topics ranging from dorm life to internships.

According to the Buckeye Blog Web page, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience is trying to help prospective students learn about the real Ohio State experience via a blog. The student bloggers are encouraged to express both good and bad experiences at OSU.

Jessica Jackson, a junior in strategic communication, has been blogging for Ohio State since her freshman year and said she will continue to blog until she graduates.

"When applying to college, there is tons of paperwork and you don't really get a feel for what life as a student is like. I think these blogs help prospective students see what college life is like and may help them make their decision to come here," Jackson said.

"I want to inspire readers to do things that they want to do, to get involved and take advantage of the opportunities they have here."

Jackson said she recommends both prospective and current students to read the blogs and listen to each student's voice because the bloggers are honest.

"We (the bloggers) are all different and each reader can find someone they can really relate to and they can contact us and ask us questions," Jackson said.

Jennifer Duann, a senior in English and molecular genetics, has been blogging for Ohio State since her sophomore year and plans on blogging until she graduates in the spring.

"No one really knows what life at Ohio State is like until you actually get here or talk to a real student," Duann said. "I would recommend that students who are thinking about coming to OSU read these blogs, to learn about the positives and negatives of campus and Columbus life. I love this university, and hopefully when prospective students read these blogs it will reinforce their decision to come here."
