"Friends" coming to a theater near you

The surprising success of "Sex and the City" (which has made just less than $150 million since its release in May) has ignited a spark under fellow television stars, encouraging them to follow suit.

Does anyone have the courage to take on Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha at the box office? Apparently our favorite Central Perk customers do.

Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc all plan to reprise their roles in a silver-screen version of the hit sitcom "Friends" within the next 18 months.

It seems the "Friends" cast was stirred by the mega-success of "Sex and the City" and dreamed of a pay-off just as big, if not bigger.

The question is will it work?

The success of a "Friends" movie is debatable. "Friends," being a sitcom, is in an entirely different genre than "Sex and the City." Fixed studio sets and laugh tracks are not made for the big screen.

Many are doubtful a transition to the big screen would cause the show to lose many of its lovable qualities.

Then again, viewing "Friends" from a different angle (both figuratively and literally) could provide a refreshing experience and even closure for the show's diehard fans.

Either way, "Friends" fanatics will have to wait until the film's premiere and judge for themselves.

Although I love "Friends" and would love to see a big screen version of the show, this is older news and has been denied from the production teams and the entire cast members of friends. (Continued…)

Sex in the city sucks. The tv show and the movie.
Friends would have no trouble burying that crappy movie.
