This past summer, before school started, I made a two-hour drive to campus from my home. The reason for this drive was to purchase a Buckeye Bundle from Uni-print (previously Cop-ez).
Because I was an incoming freshman, I had purchased a new laptop. I declined the cheaper offer from Dell to purchase a Microsoft Office disc because I was informed of the university's Buckeye Bundle, which would include an update to Windows Vista when it was released.
Today, I went to Uni-print, only to find out that the policy has been changed and they would no longer honor their previous offer. They said there was nothing they could do about it, even though I had already paid over the summer. I was told that Ohio State and Microsoft had created a new deal, however, this deal screws over many students who were promised this upgrade. For being such an outstanding university, one would think OSU would uphold its promises to its students.

I believe that all Dell computers come with Microsoft Works. Until things are sorted out with the Buckeye Bundle, I would recommend you use that and/or OpenOffice (which is free, btw). (Continued…)

I agree with Rebecca. This year I kept going into Uni-print asking when they were going to have Vista for students, and they told me they did not know but every time offered to sell me the Buckeye Bundle because they said I would get Vista with it when it is available. (Continued…)

If you read the information your were given about Buckeye Bundle 2 you would know that no upgrade is promised in the deal that only updates are. Even if Vista is released to Students to buy it the Buckeye Bundle 2 it expires June 30, 2007 and has to be removed from your computer. (Continued…)

It says in the FAQ
"Does the agreement give me the ability to move to a new version of the operating system when it does come out?
Yes. As Microsoft releases new operating system versions, current students, faculty, and staff can upgrade to these new versions with no additional cost except for modest distribution fees for the duration of the contract. (Continued…)
