Al Gore's global warming message will come to Ohio State Saturday in a free screening of his movie, "An Inconvenient Truth," sponsored by Students for a Sustainable Campus.

The 2006 Academy Award-winning documentary highlights the effects of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere.

In the film, Gore illustrates trends in weather patterns that could have dire consequences through the use of data compiled by scientists and researchers.

The free screening is set to take place at Browning Amphitheatre near Mirror Lake.

"It is no longer a question of if, but a question of when global warming will affect us," said Andrew Keeler, an associate professor in environmental science.

According to the movie, the highest atmospheric temperatures since the Civil War have occurred in the last 14 years with 2005 being the hottest.

People are not the only ones affected by global warming, Gore said, because ecological niches and different species are also affected by it.

"Global warming is an important issue that affects everybody," said Jessica Fleury, a junior in English.

The event will begin at 8:30 p.m. and free food and drinks will be provided.
