Platinum-selling rap artists Ludacris and Chamillionaire will be playing at Ohio State's Big Free Concert the evening of May 18.
The concert, which will be at the Schottenstein Center, was planned by the concert committee of the Ohio Union Activities Board.
This annual concert has been offered to OSU students for the past five years . In 2006, more than 5,000 students packed the South Oval to watch Teddy Geiger, Jurassic 5, Jason Mraz and My Beloved Tragedy. According to Corey Dugan, the chair of the conference committee, the Big Free Concert is normally the largest concert on campus.
The committee approached the rappers because of their mass appeal. The Schott can accommodate 8,000 fans.
"We decided to try and stick with one genre after looking at the other shows that we had done this year and talking to students," Dugan said.
Because the Ohio Union is under construction, students can receive two tickets per BuckID from gates 22 through 24 at Ohio Stadium starting Monday.
All 35 members of the concert committee were involved with planning the concert since winter. The concert, as well as OUAB, is funded entirely by student activity fees.
"It's a great tradition, it's a great event and people really look forward to it," said Kay Robinson, the staff adviser of OUAB.

Well then, if you want a say in helping pick the artists, join the OUAB and help them run the show.
How could the student body possibly decide? Get real! A meeting of, then a consensus and decision by, a body the size of OSU's student body it totally impractical. (Continued…)
