Jazz concert to benefit GLBT music scholarship

Famed Jazz pianist Fred Hersch will be performing a benefit concert at 8 p.m. Nov. 15 in Weigel Auditorium, to support the Mark Moffett Jr. Scholarship. The Moffett Scholarship, which is offered at Ohio State’s School of Music, gives $1,500 annually to a GLBT student enrolled in the School of Music.

Charles Dickens made Ebenezer Scrooge famous in the 1843 novel “A Christmas Carol.” But Robert Zemeckis, an American film writer and director, hasn’t been pleased with films inspired by the novel. After writing and directing “Beowulf”, featuring Angelina Jolie, he was inspired to create his own remake of the Christmas tale.

Student hit by bus on campus

An Ohio State student was transported to the OSU Hospital emergency room Tuesday afternoon after he was struck by a bus near Woodruff and College avenues. The student, Yaho Sun, was in a Woodruff Avenue crosswalk at 12:16 p.m. when a westbound bus struck his left side, knocking him to the ground. Full story
