Non-profit organization provides normality, retreat for Nationwide Children’s patients

Four years ago, Amanda Knapp tried to find a part-time job through a babysitting service in Columbus, Ohio, to pay her way through college, but she never heard back from the agency. That led her husband to ask, "Why don't you start your own service?" and two months later, she did just that, launching Sitting Made Simple in 2008.

Students campaign for President Obama’s birth control decision

The central mandate of President Barack Obama's decision to require most employers to cover birth control and insurers to offer it at no cost has been a controversial issue affecting many. Ohio State's 39-game home winning streak halted with poor shooting

Commentary: Sullinger needs to stay calm for Buckeyes to succeed

Michigan State men's basketball coach Tom Izzo pitied Ohio State Jared Sullinger after Saturday's game. After helping guide MSU to a 58-48 win against the Buckeyes, Izzo made an obvious statement, saying that Sullinger faces an increased scoring burden when his Buckeye teammates, like senior guard William Buford and sophomore forward Deshaun Thomas, who shot a combined 4-of-24 from the field, struggle to score.

North something video or another

Stop button pressed on Columbus video store

North Campus Video gave customers what they won't find at a Redbox — human interaction, staff recommendations, obscure, almost-impossible-to-find films and personal pornography previews in the comfort of their own booth. But that will soon change.

Spike Lee

Spike Lee talks black community, crack, education

Students pursue higher education in hopes of obtaining their dreams. The pursuit of these dreams starts with the individual, a message that director Spike Lee stressed the importance of on Thursday. Barstool bash shines black light on Newport

There were no barstools, but it's quite plausible many people blacked out, and one person was arrested. The Barstool Blackout Tour stopped in Columbus to perform for a sold-out crowd at the Newport Music Hall Saturday. A total of 1,400 tickets were sold.

Just a short drive from campus, Wildflower Café is a hidden gem with no frills, good food and simple charm. Friday Fashion: Columbus fashion designer uses shirtdress to impress

I thought I was dreaming when I noticed the half-inch image of a man wearing an Ohio State hoodie that appeared in my daily fashion alert from "New York Magazine's" The Cut a few weeks ago. After all, hoodies rarely make a fashion article, let alone a scarlet and grey one.

Fans shouldn't give Nicki Minaj all their 'Luvin''

I consider myself a passionate fan of all kinds of music. Whether it's hip-hop, jazz, classical, electronic, bluegrass, metal or anything in between, I can almost always find a way to enjoy it. Furthermore, I think exploring different musical genres will only expand one's understanding of music, which will lead to a greater sense of appreciation.

Names are an individual's brand, not just a random label

I used to despise my name. Growing up I wanted nothing more than a personalized Mickey Mouse pen with my name on it. However, most every place had pre-made items with "common" names, which my sister Ashley made sure to rub in my face. I definitely got my fair share of "you have a boy name" throughout grade school and the embarrassment of a lecture from my teacher after a fellow male kindergartner told me I was supposed to spell my name T-y-l-e-r.

Varejao

Kyrie Irving will feel Varejao's loss, pick up slack for Cavaliers

Delayed by a 161-day lockout, this NBA season has been far from pretty. Not only has the quality of play taken a hit with jump shots looking rusty and teams way out of sync, but the injury-bug has hurt teams all around the league. But in this young season the Cleveland Cavaliers, until last Friday, had been taking advantage of these post-lockout effects.

Dormz

Freshmen should be about to choose housing like adults

As I'm sure you all have heard, President E. Gordon Gee plans to enforce a requirement for not just first-years (excluding commuter students), but also second-years to live on campus by 2015. "Maybe 2016. Give me a year!" he joked at the quarterly meeting with The Lantern editorial board Monday.
